Richland School District Teacher COVID Case

A teacher at Richland Elementary School has the coronavirus, officials announced Thursday.

Officials say they were informed of the positive case Thursday morning and immediately contacted the Pennsylvania Department of Health for guidance.

They say further information was gathered and they determined that the teacher did not come in close contact with students, parents or other staff members so there are currently no plans to close the school or postpone any district activities.

“We are thankful to report that the teacher indicates and has allowed us to share that they are experiencing only mild symptoms which are similar to the common cold with a headache and sore throat,” Superintendent Arnold Nadonley wrote in a release. “The teacher has not been hospitalized and is currently at home quarantined.”
