Penn State University announced a temporary hiring freeze going until next Summer.
University officials say the decision was made in part to help balance its budget by the Summer of 2025.
However, officials say searches to fill critical roles will still move forward. Including positions in safety and student success and compliance.
The University says this hiring freeze does not apply to students, graduate assistantships or positions that are fully funded by external grants or contracts.
