Pitt Panthers got some bad news today, offensive coordinator Mark Whipple announced his resignation after three years ahead of the Panthers Peach Bowl matchup with Michigan State.
No reason was given as to why Whipple decided to step down. The speculation is that his three year contract is coming to an end.
He made the decision for the betterment of his family. Whipple is regarded as the man responsible for turning around the Pitt offensive attack completely.
Along with bringing along Heisman quarterback finalist Kenny Pickett to the heights he was able to achieve in this season.
It doesn’t seem as if now that Whipple made the decision to pursue other coaching opportunities.
Panthers just finished off an eleven and two season and captured their first ACC Title in football history, and they rank third nationally in scoring and six in passing this year, part under the 64 year old Whipple.
