Philipsburg Christmas Story

A true Christmas story in Philipsburg on Sunday, with the packaging of Holiday Meals, and special deliveries made by Santa Claus himself. We tagged along with the group to help spread some Holiday Cheer.

The YMCA was practically Santa’s Workshop on Sunday. Volunteers packed, stacked, and shipped over 300 boxes of Holiday foods to those in need across Centre County. With people struggling across the Country, the need for help is at an all-time high to make sure everyone has a Merry Christmas from beginning to end. The YMCA of Centre County’s Anti-Hunger Director Mel Curtis and crew had a busy weekend. On Saturday they packed over 500 presents for children in the Christmas Program, and on Sunday the packed school backpacks with food and over 300 blessings in a box, filled with Holiday meals.

Since the Pandemic, Curtis says he has seen a significant increase in assistance on a local scale and with Santa Claus in town, he also took part in giving back to the community. The Hometown Hero truck made two stops in Philipsburg on it’s Santa Run to deliver smiles and stockings full of toys.
