The Horchen brothers in DuBois started a sanitation business called Perma-Serv. Their goal is to help nearby businesses prevent the spread of COVID-19 in a cost effective way.
“We started in March, that’s when the idea came about that’s when we were presented with a product from one of my old friends in the car industry” said Ryan Horchen, Partner of Perma-Serv.
Ryan Horchen and his brother Dustin Horchen own H&H Performance in DuBois.
It wasn’t until April during the COVID-19 shutdown, when they launched their new business venture Perma-Serv to prevent the spread of the virus.
“It’s a two step process. First step is to put down a hospital grade disinfectant it kills 99.999% of viruses and bacteria on contact,” said Horchen.
Once the product is put in a fogger, the disinfectant stays on the surface for 10 minutes.
Then they put an antimicrobial product on the surface that prevents the spread of bacteria for up to 90 days.
“When we started into this the public transit was where we really focused. We did the ATA buses, their offices, their facilities, a lot of their bus stops,” he said.
Perma-Serv also serviced the City of DuBois’ municipal building, their police department along with all of Sandy Township’s police cruisers.
While Horchen said their products do not prevent airbonre transmission, it does treat all touch contact surfaces.
“It reduces the cost of overall sanitizing and cleaning because there isn’t a need to continually clean every hour, every minute,” he said.
Horchen said they provide these services for 35 cents per square foot.
