Last night marked the second time in the last three seasons that the New York Islanders have eliminated the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round of the playoffs
And it is the third straight time a Barry Trotz lead team eliminated the Pens in the first round it also marked the fourth straight year the Pens were bounced in the first round
After taking a three two lead early in the second period the Pens were looking pretty good before the Isles exploded for three goals in less than 3 minutes to seize control of the
game and more importantly the series dropping Pittsburgh 5-3 and taking the series in six games a lot of questions will need to be answered with new management in town
namely Ron Hextall and Brian Burke.
Will key players be moved? Is this the end of the Crosby Malkin Letang era?
Time will tell Malkin and Letang still have one year left on their contract but aside from that the disappointment will sting for a while
