The 2020 season did not get off to a great start for Penn State. The Nittany Lions were bounced on the road at Indiana and it came in controversial fashion.
Despite dominating the game in almost every statistical category. Penn State trailed until the 2nd half where they took the lead and looked to put it away. However after some questionable coaching decisions when it comes to clock management.
The Hoosiers were able to send the game into overtime where they were able to pull out the win with a 2 pt conversion attempt that many Nittany Lion fans are still debating whether he was in or not. Penn State made a ton of mistakes on both sides of the ball and in the coaching box and head coach James Franklin says it wasn’t just one thing that brought them down.
“The hard part is Mark that there were a lot of plays that we would’ve liked to have done different. In some ways people probably look at that one play, but there was a lot of plays throughout the game that we should’ve done differently and could’ve handled differently and could’ve made plays. Its my job as the head coach that everyone clearly understands those situations and obviously right there it didn’t happen.’
After the loss on Saturday Penn State fell in the recent rankings, the Nittany Lions are now 18th in the Associated Press poll and 17th in the USA Today coaches poll. In the Big Ten, Ohio State moved up to 3rd in both Wisconsin is 9th, in the AP and 11th in the coaches. Michigan moved up to 13 and 14. And Indiana cracked both polls at 17 and 19.
