A school board meeting was held tonight to discuss possible plans to consolidate 5 school buildings in Cambria County.
The meeting was held at the Penn Cambria High School library as board members took more steps in the planning phase.
Penn Cambria Superintendent Jamie Hartline says board members are looking into a consolidation with the possibility of closing 1 or more of the 5 Penn Cambria District Schools
The school buildings that could face closure include Penn Cambria Pre Primary, Penn Cambria Primary, and both Penn Cambria Intermediate , and Middle School.
Hartline says the district has been holding state required meetings to look at expenses and cost. Hartline says the district is currently in the process of receiving feedback from teachers, students, and parents to understand what the community needs.
School officials say a feasibility study was also completed in 2023, resulting in the potential closure of some buildings and consolidating students to one campus
Officials say there are not moving forward with any specific plans yet, and will continue to hold discussions with the public before doing so.
