For the Second Year in a Row, the Steelers will not hold their Training Camp at Saint Vincent College. The Black and Gold tradition has been placed on hold yet another year because of the COVID Pandemic. The NFL denied the Team’s request to hold Training Camp in Latrobe due to COVID-19 Protocols. The Team will instead split time at both Heinz Field and the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.
Training Camp is set to start late July. Once a practice schedule has been finalized, the Team will announce which days fans can attend Training Camp. This news is interesting because the NFL made a different call for Kansas City. The Chiefs are allowed to return to Missouri Western State University for their Training Camp.
Team Spokesman Burt Lauten released this statement Thursday saying: “We are disappointed we won’t be holding our 2021 Training Camp at Saint Vincent College. We were prepared to safely host Training Camp on Campus with fans, but unfortunately our plan was not approved.” The Steelers expressed their support of Saint Vincent College and the Latrobe community and said they plan to return to the Campus in 2022.
