State police in Bedford have identified the victim of Wednesday’s fatal crash along Cortland Road in New Paris.
Troopers say 21-year-old Michael Howsare, of New Paris, was traveling southbound along Route 96 when his vehicle traveled off the shoulder of the roadway and struck a mailbox and a parked vehicle.
Investigators say Howsare re-entered the roadway and crossed the center lane of travel, striking a traffic sign, guide wire and a tree on the opposite side of the roadway.
Police say Howsare was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
