In Cambria County unveiled construction plans for a new walk in Crisis Center in downtown Johnstown.
Now the aim of this new facility is to give those experiencing mental health crises a place to go for help.
They’ll be able to talk with caseworkers or peers who can get them back on the right track and help them avoid being hospitalized.
The reality is, whenever you’re in the depths of a crisis, you kind of have blinders on and you’re just seeing that moment.
And so having a friendly face that you know you can go to, there’s not the threat that because a lot of people want to avoid crisis because they see it as I’m going to be hospitalized.
The center will be located in the Central Park complex and is scheduled to open this spring.
