The Conemaugh Valley High School had to be evacuated this morning after a threat investigation that led to one juvenile being taken into custody.
The Superintendent Shane Hazenstab says the incident involved a student threatening to use weapons calling it essentially a school shooter based threat.
He says no weapons were found in the building after a search of the building by police.
2 Students were spoken to about the situation, and one student is facing charges.
The alleged threat is being investigated and the juvenile’s identity is not being released at this time
School officials say they are thankful for the quick response by law enforcment
“It was impressive and I’m thankful. I’m thankful that we have that kind of support. We live in a day and age when we have protocols and we have procedures as they relate to safety. Safety is our top priority,
it’s our top goal, and when something gets in the way of safety everything else stops until we secure the threat and we deal with it.”
Greg Neugebauer says this is a reminder that any threat will be taken seriously and prosecuted.
Neugebauer said in a statement today quote:
“Students need to realize that making any type of threat can have long term implications which may include having a record that follows you into adulthood”
