The 2022 MLB Draft began over the weekend and one Player from the local scene received the call of a lifetime. Johnstown Mill Rats fans have seen this Player in action in the Prospect League. Now they will watch him on the Professional scene.
Infielder Trey Lipscomb was drafted 84th overall to the Washington Nationals. Lipscomb was a key piece to the Mill Rats Play-off push last year in the Inaugural Season. In 21 games for Johnstown, Lipscomb finished 3rd on the team in RBI’s with 31, he hit 3 Home Runs, a triple, 4 doubles, and scored 26 runs. He only struck out 5 times.
Lipscomb is the first Player in Mill Rats history to be drafted in the MLB Draft.
