As COVID-19 cases continue to rise across our region, a nursing home in Cambria County is dealing with an outbreak of their own.
LaurelWood Care Center in Upper Yoder Township is currently dealing with an outbreak of the virus among residents and staff. Officials say this outbreak began after an employee tested positive at the beginning of the month.
In all of Cambria County, there are 14 facilities in the county which have seen a positive COVID-19 case. To date, there 312 people who have tested positive for the virus in nursing homes and personal care facilities. The DOH says there have been 4 coronavirus related deaths among residents in Cambria County as of today.
As of Wednesday, The Department of Health reported there have been 66 positive residents at LaurelWood Care Center out of the 206 residents in the facility. There have also been 58 staff members who have tested positive for COVID-19 since the pandemic began. The Department of Health is also reporting there are somewhere between 1 to 4 COVID related deaths.
