Last Respects for Fallen K-9

Following a burglary early Sunday morning, a K9 officer with the Johnstown Police Department lost his life while on duty.

During the call, police say he fell through an unsecured, open elevator shaft on the fourth floor of the building while conducting a search for burglary suspects.

A day later, Johnstown Police Department held a procession in honor of the fallen hero.

“What happened here today was a way to memorialize K9 Titan and the loss that he gave to our department. The injury that he received and did not recover from. We felt that it was necessary to show the respect for the officer,” said Sergeant Michael Plunkard.

Dozens of other departments from across the region, joined in the procession to show their support.

“It was really great to see the community come out and support officer Titan and JPD and their loss and hopefully we don’t have to go through this again, “said Cambria County district attorney, Greg Neugebauer.

As well as people in the community lining Main street to show their respect for K9 Titan.

“With people holding up signs, waving flags. It really was unbelievable, and I know not only did the police department feel that, but the family of officer titan felt that too,” said Sergeant Plunkard.

There are now three remaining K9 officers with the Johnstown Police Department.
