Throughout the country last evening was this year’s National Night Out.
It’s an event aimed at improving police and community relations throughout local communities. And here in our region there were plenty of night out festivities
Held at Central Park community members and local law enforcement came together to get to know one-another a bit better.
This comes at a rough time where we’re hearing about crime going up across the country, and places like Johnstown are no exception.
We had a streak earlier this year where we saw 8 people die in Homicide cases in the city in 5 months, 4 coming in a 3-day span.
Johnstown Police have been working with the City Council to try and help the Police Department be more proactive in the community and events like this gave them that exact opportunity.
“….. We just want to build those relationships meet people, meet kids and just get closer to the community.”
