CamTran is providing another update on the Johnstown Inclined Plane project, as officials say the expectation is now to reopen the Inclined Plane next year.
Organizers say the project is 92% complete, as the contractors are now working to repair and replace the sheave wheels, after multiple issues with them prompted the project to be paused earlier this year.
The sheave wheels are used to help pull the car up the tracks, and an issue with how they were manufactured was one of the many delays in the project.
Now, officials say the hope is to have construction and installation of the wheels completed in the fall, so that the inspection can be done over the winter.
Officials note that during the installation process, Edgehill Drive, in Westmont Borough, will have to be temporarily closed, once again, but add that an official announcement will be made in advance.
CamTran says it expects to reopen the Inclined Plane in 2025.
