Johnstown Homicide Suspect In Court Friday

Authorities say the man shot and killed an innocent bystander in Cambria County last year made an appearance in court on Friday.

Investigators say Jamaal Branch was the one a shooting in the Hornerstown section of the city last October, they believe Isaiah Hixon was not the target of the shooting.

But he was shot three times in the back, including one shot hitting his heart, according to Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees.

Johnstown Police Detective Sgt Corey Adams says video shown in court on Friday showed a man leaning out of the rear passenger side window of a Red Jeep Compass firing two handguns one in each hand.

Those guns were never retained by police, but they say the vehicle was found just a few minutes away from the scene outside an apartment on Franklin Street.

Investigators say fingerprints from the rear passenger side of the car came back matching Branch.

The Defense argues that no victims or witnesses say they saw who fired the shots.

All charges were bound over in court on Friday, and Branch faces several, including criminal homicide and multiple counts of aggravated assault.

Branch is currently scheduled to be in court on February 4th as the case heads to trial.
