Johnstown City Council Meets To Fill Vacant Council Seat

Johnstown City Council will soon vote to fill a vacant seat left by Councilman Mike Capriotti.

Wednesday evening the council held a public forum to interview four potential candidates for the vacant seat.

Candidates were asked one by one about potential goals and priorities in front of the council.

This forum comes after the council delayed the voting process one week to make room for the interviews.

A move Mayor Frank Janakovic says, was the most efficient and fair way to select the next council member.

“What we did tonight with council was we had a scoring sheet and each candidate was asked the same question in different order and then we rated each of that responses to that and that’s how we’ll be choosing our next city council member.”

One candidate will soon be picked by the Council to finish out Councilman Capriotti’s term, which will run up until this upcoming Fall.
