Johnsonburg Borough police have charged an Elk County man with numerous sex crimes after he was accused of repeatedly molesting two young girls, who are known to him.
Police say Robert Anderson, 79, faces over a dozen felony counts of indecent assault, attempted indecent assault and corruption of minors, according to online court documents.
Authorities say on March 31, one of the victims, an 11-year-old girl, came to the Johnsonburg Police Department to report that Anderson had been repeatedly molesting her and her 13-year-old sister at his home along Hill Street, in Johnsonburg.
According to the arrest affidavit, police say the 13-year-old victim told investigators that Anderson had been molesting her since the summer of 2020, and would often buy her nicotine for a vape pen in exchange for allowing him to “fondle her.”
Upon further investigation, police say they also found provocative photos of the 13-year-old victim on Anderson’s phone and computer.
Police say when they interviewed Anderson about the accusations, he allegedly became agitated, stating, “here we go again, they will believe the girls over me.”
Anderson has since been arraigned to the Elk County Prison, on $100,000 bail, court dockets show.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 4.
