Some of the worlds toughest athletes come through University Park

Bo Nickal, David Taylor, Franco Harris, Jack Ham, the list could go on and on

Starting next Summer one of the most difficult one-day sporting events will take over Happy Valley

An Ironman Triathlon is coming to State College. For the next three years the Ironman 70 Point 3 Pennsylvania Happy Valley Triathlon will be held July 2, 2023

It entails a 1.2 mile swim in the Sayers Reservoir at Bald Eagle State Park, 56 miles of bicycling through Centre and Clinton counties, and a half marathon that will finish on the fifty yard line inside Beaver Stadium

Centre County Commissioner Mark Higgins spoke on the bicycling portion of the Triathlon running through Centre County

“We anticipate some of the athletes will be coming with their families, as early as maybe Wednesday or Thursday, and making some time out of it. Of course, fourth fest is two days later, so they’ll have that opportunity, and we’ll be encouraging them to stay on and attend that great event.”

General registration for the Ironman 70-point-3 will open Wednesday, October 5th.
