Cambria County authorities say the man shot to death in Hornerstown over the weekend was also the victim of another shooting earlier this year.
Johnstown police and county coroner Jeff Lees confirmed that 60-year-old Edward West was shot the night of Feb. 7 along Bedford Street.
Details in that incident are still limited as police say they don’t have a suspect in custody for the shooting and are still investigating.
West was later confirmed by Lees to be the victim of Sunday’s deadly shooting along Horner Street.
Police say West was found slumped over against 3 Reds Tavern, with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso. He was taken to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, where he died shortly after.
Police have since arrested 40-year-old Arlaya Morris and charged her with his killing.
In a criminal complaint, a witness told officers they saw Morris following West prior to the shooting. The complaint also alleges Morris followed West to the 3 Reds Tavern parking lot, from the Elk’s Lodge, where she shot him multiple times.
Court documents show Morris is charged with several felonies, including criminal homicide and aggravated assault.
She is being held at the Cambria County Prison, with bail denied.
“The West homicide is a great example, I hope I don’t sound like a broken record, it’s a great example of when the community comes forward, cooperates with law enforcement, does the right thing, we can make arrests quickly and we
can build a good case.”
