Homicide Suspect Dies in the Hospital

Authorities in Clearfield County announced that suspected killer Anthony Boone died Tuesday at UPMC Altoona.

Boone was accused of killing 40-year-old Rebecca Solt, on August 27, which sparked a near 24-hour manhunt.

When law enforcement later found Boone, police say he turned the gun on himself and shot himself in the chest.

Authorities say staff a UPMC Altoona determined that, “despite their best efforts,” Boone was not going to recover from his injuries and he was subsequently taken off of life-support.

“While Mr. Boone will not get to answer for his crimes in a courtroom in Clearfield County, I believe that justice will prevail when he gets his eternal sentence from the Great Judge,” said Clearfield County District Attorney Ryan P. Sayers.

“I would like to again commend the hard work, cooperation, and dedication of our local law enforcement agencies and first responders, especially Lawrence Township Police and the Pennsylvania State Police. Also, a particular thanks to and recognition of Sgt. Julie Curry from Lawrence Township Police who was the point person on this homicide case.”
