A fatal accident in Indiana County killed one person and sent 12 others including multiple children to hospitals.
According to State Police a van driving West on State Route 580 in Green Township went off the road around 7:30 hitting a tree before striking another and coming to a stop.
The driver of the van who was not wearing a seatbelt was pronounced dead at the scene.
Court documents state 2 adults and 10 children were injured. With 10 passengers sent to minors hospital in Hastings and IRMC while 2 were flown to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Police say the passengers recalled the driver having issues staying in the lane saying that the driver was experiencing a medical emergency before losing consciousness and ultimately crashing the van.
Troopers say only 1 person out of the 13 people in the van were wearing a seat belt.
