The superintendent of the Greater Johnstown School District says coaches and players of the boys basketball team have tested negative for COVID-19. The announcement comes after the district announced that one player tested positive for the virus last month.
Amy Arcurio says one player chose not to be tested and will be held in quarantine until 14 days pass.
She says the district is following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines and suspended all play until July 10.
She says the plan the district put in place proved to be a valuable tool in mitigating the spread of the virus to other team members.
She adds that the district will now use a color-coded system in its schools to clearly identify areas of potential contamination and help spread awareness of disinfecting procedures.
