GJSD Athlete Tests Positive for COVID-19

A Student Athlete at Greater Johnstown School District has tested positive for COVID-19. Officials say the Student has not been in school since September 16th due to their hybrid schedule, but did attend an open gym on the 21st.

They say they have identified the 6 Players and one Coach who had direct contact with this Student and they have been contacted by both the School District Leaders as well as the Cambria County Community Health Nurse from the Department of Health. They will be required to quarantine for the mandatory 14 days. All other gyms have been cancelled from the Men’s Basketball Program through October 6th. They say proper deep cleaning and sanitizing protocols were followed and at this time no other Players or Coaches have had any symptoms.

The student who tested positive is feeling better and will be out of the 10-day mandatory isolation on October 1st.
