A former prosecutor is suspended from practicing law in Pennsylvania following a Supreme Court review of multiple incidents of misconduct.
Leslie Childers Potts resigned from her position as the Bedford County District Attorney in February of last year after her office came under heavy scrutiny
The criticism was in response to a string of several mistrials and other prosecutorial issues that arose in various cases including charges being dropped against a man accused of killing his mother.
Officials say the DA’s office failed to submit a DNA report in the case evidence that eventually exonerated the suspect Charles McCahan.
Today the State’s office of disciplinary counsel is ordering the suspension of Childers Potts law license for two years.
The order also states that she is agreeing to the suspension and would be unable to defend herself if any of the cases of misconduct would be prosecuted in court
