It’s been four years since the first blighted property was demolished in Cambria County under Act 152.
Local leaders gathered at a vacant property in Nanty Glo Borough to celebrate progress.
Act 152 allows counties to collect a $15 fee on certain types of deeds and mortgages to be used to demloish blighted properties.
Cambria County Redevelopment Authority has used that to tear down 24 blighted properties.
“So, all of the communities have been wonderful, all of the supervisors and the borough managers have been fantastic to work with. The police departments, the fire departments closing down the streets so its been a wonderful wonderful reaction to it.” (07;49;08;13 – 07;49;22;03)
Cambria was the second county in the state to pass the resolution after it was signed into law by Governor Wolf in 2016.
