Officials say one woman has died and two others hospitalized after a house fire broke out in Cambria County early Sunday morning. Officials say the fire broke out at a duplex in Johnstown around 4:30 Sunday morning and they say they’re still trying to piece together what happened.
It was at a home along the 1000 block of Edson Avenue, where a couple who lived in the duplex called to 911. Johnstown Fire Chief Robert Statler says that couple was helped out of residence by an Ambulance crew and taken to Conemaugh Hospital. But on the other side, one woman didn’t make it out alive. Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees saying: “Firefighters made entry into the building and found the victim on the third floor. She was pronounced deceased here at the scene by my office.” Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees says neighbors could hear the pleas for help from the woman inside, but they couldn’t get to her.
The State Police Fire Marshall, the Coroner’s office, and Johnstown Fire Department are still conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fire. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more about this investigation.
