Easter For Eli

In memory of his son Eli, Martin Garrett, the President of Easter For Eli, has once again begun collecting donations to put into Easter Baskets for children who will have to spend the holiday in the hospital

The effort has expanded to 27 States which encompasses 57 Children’s Hospitals, several Ronald McDonald Houses and Shriners Hospitals.

Garrett has been able to deliver over 78,000 baskets and tens of thousands of dollars in gift cards over the last 10 years.

Items being collected are toys, games, books, gift cards, etc.

However, candy won’t be accepted, due to dietary restrictions of the children. Items should be in a clear plastic bag and labeled with a four year age range and gender.

The goal this year is 10,000 baskets and $10,000 in gift cards.

Martin was inspired to create Easter For Eli by an act of kindness shown to Eli while he was sick which, in turn, helped him cope with seeing his son in the hospital.

“To give them just a little bit of normalcy. So, like, we’re not only helping a child, but we’re helping these parents as well. Trying to alleviate a little bit of stress, and the thought of their child being in the hospital not living a normal life as it is, and just being able to see a little. It of joy in their face.”

The deadline to donate is April 4th. There will be over 70 drop off locations throughout Pennsylvania and Maryland.

A full list of those locations will be on Easter For Eli’s Facebook page within the next week.
