Two municipalities in Clearfield County are working on a project with the hopes of bettering the community.
Sandy Township Manager Shawn Arbaugh said they’re partnering with the city DuBois to build a connector trail. The trail will connect DuBois City Walkway to the Wolf Run Rails to Trails Project near Falls Creek.
“It’s probably going to be 2-2.5 miles, not exactly sure of the length at this point,” said Arbaugh.
While they’re still in the early stages of planning, Arbaugh hopes to secure a grant from the North Central PA Regional Planning and Development Commission.
“It just provides a really great recreation opportunity for residents and outdoors to utilize the resources within Sandy Township and DuBois,” he said.
He said another great benefit of this trail is providing a safe walkway for pedestrians.
With the DuBois-Sandy Township consolidation making its way to the ballot in the fall election, Arbaugh says this is another great partnership.
“It’s just a good step to work together to do something great for our community and to really partner with the city of DuBois on a great partnership that could really benefit the area,”
