After voting to move forward with a consolidation study last January, DuBois City Manager Herm Suplizio said they’re making progress.
“Shawn Arbaugh, Sandy Township Manager and I have been working on it probably I’d say weekly getting the information to the people that are doing the consolidation study,” he said.
The study which was conducted by the Pennsylvania Economy League takes a look at both municipalities’ financials and the efficiency of consolidating
Before anything moves forward, Suplizio said residents in Sandy Township and DuBois will have a voice in this.
“We’re not saying that it’s pro-consolidation or not to consolidate, what we’re saying is that we want to get all the information out there so that people can make an educated decision,” he said.
Suplizio said COVID-19 slowed down their progress but after receiving the draft things should get moving pretty quickly.
“Then it’s going to be up both municipalities to vote on it to make several votes on to see if they want to move forward with putting it on the ballot,” he said.
Suplizio asked the public to be patient as they’re trying to do their due diligence with this consolidation.
