At today’s Dubois City Council meeting, one of the points of discussion was the city council’s response to recent statements from the Treasurer disparaging the Council and Mayor.
On September 6th, Dubois Treasurer Lisa Becker told the Courier Express that she had filed a formal complaint with City Manager Shawn Arbaugh,
She also shared a letter to Arbaugh with the Express, alleging personal attacks and an uncomfortable work environment for her.
She alleges that her desk and computer were removed from her private office, and placed into the City Council Chambers, on August 30th.
She also alleged losing access to her entry code, her staff, her telephone, and even the door to her office.
At today’s meeting, the City Council responded to her accusations.
City Solicitor Thomas Breth, interpreting the council’s statement, said the Treasurer was trying to undermine the work done by the City Council, and called her statements self-serving and false.
“The city council took appropriate steps to safeguard its efforts and protect the best interest of the city of Dubois, while at the same time proviidng the city treasurer with the resources needed to fulfill her duties. The relocation of the work area for the city treasurer will not impact the operation of any of the city offices.”
Breth said that it should be business as normal for all offices and residents in dubois.
He also said that if she needs to meet with someone to discuss her complaints, she will be given the opportunity to do so in a secure area.
