The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 1,731 new coronavirus cases in the state Thursday, bringing the statewide total to 1,232,185 throughout all 67 counties since the beginning of the pandemic.
Health officials say 96 percent of the state’s total cases are considered to be recovered and 5,734,642 people are fully vaccinated.
All adults are eligible to receive a free COVID-19 vaccine, the Pennsylvania Department of Health says.
State health officials reported seven new COVID-related deaths across the state Thursday, bringing Pennsylvania’s death toll to 27,890.
According to the Department of Health’s hospital dashboard, 624 people are hospitalized with the virus across Pennsylvania, and 141 are in the Intensive Care Unit.
Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.
There have been 79,235 confirmed cases in our 10-county viewing area since the start of the pandemic, according to the Department of Health, and 1,817 deaths.
According to the Department of Health, 4,941,480 patients have tested negative for the virus.
Five counties in the 6 News viewing are considered to have “substantial” COVID-19 transmission, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
They are Bedford, Cambria, Centre, Clearfield and Huntingdon.
The CDC recommends everyone in areas with substantial or high COVID-19 spread wear a mask in public indoor settings.
