Crosby Hits 500

Last night’s matchup between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philly Flyers was a piece of history and an edge of your seat ride with a third period two goal comeback and some overtime.

Lets begin with history.

The game was tied at 1 in the first period when the Penguins went to the power play.

Captain Sidney Crosby had been sitting on 499 career goals for a few games but last night he broke through on the power play taking an Evgeni Malkin pass and timing it past Carter Hart to give the Pens a 2-1 lead but more importantly his 500th career goal.

But the Pens found themselves down 4-2 in the third before a goal from Jake Guentzel and one from Chad Ruhwedel tied it up and sent the game to overtime.

On the first shift of the extra session Kris Letang forced a turnover looked Crosby off on a 2 on 1 and beat Carter hart to seal the 5-4 win.

A fitting end to a night pens fans won’t soon forget.

The Penguins will visit Toronto Tomorrow to face off against the Maple Leafs at 7 o’clock.

The Pens sit 3 points clear of Carolina for first in the Metro Division and they hope to keep their 4-win streak alive for a 5th.
