Generally, COVID-19 numbers from the Department of Health on Sundays are much lower than the rest of the week. That was not the case this Sunday as the Department of Health reported the second highest single day case total to date. The Department of Health added 7,075 Coronavirus cases to it’s Statewide totals according to numbers from the DOH Dashboard, as Pennsylvania nears 310,000 cases since the start of the Pandemic. Those additional cases moved the 7 day average to a record 6,357. 41 more deaths were bringing the death toll for the Pandemic to 9,842. 3,379 patients are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in PA, another all-time high for the Commonwealth.
749 new cases were reported in our viewing area. Cambria reported an increase of 208 new cases, Blair reported 153, Centre reported 136, Somerset reported 80, Clearfield reported 60, Bedford reported 47, Huntingdon reported 31, Jefferson reported 23, Elk reported 10 and Cameron reported one additional case.
There were also an additional 15 deaths reported in our viewing area. Cambria reported 5, Blair reported 3, Bedford and Clearfield each reported 2, and Centre, Huntingdon and Jefferson each reported one additional death. That brings the local death toll to 209.
