COVID-19 Update January 3rd

The Department of Health added 4,579 cases to it’s Statewide totals, as Pennsylvania surpassed 660,000 cases since the start of the Pandemic. 69% of those cases are now considered to be recovered. 56 more COVID-19 related deaths were reported by the Commonwealth, bringing the Death Toll to 16,295. 5,529 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in PA. Of those patients, 1,149 are in the Intensive Care Unit.

There were 386 COVID-19 cases reported in our viewing area. Blair reported an increase of 98 new cases, Centre had 55, Cambria had 53, Clearfield reported 49, Huntingdon reported 39, Somerset reported 29, Bedford reported 27, Elk reported 19, and Jefferson reported 17 new cases.

There were three additional deaths reported in the viewing area on Sunday. Two in Centre County, and one in Jefferson. To date 1,178 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported in the ten Counties we cover.
