COVID-19 Update December 14th

On Monday, the Department of Health reporting 7,962 new Coronavirus cases in the State. That brings our State total close to half a million cases since the beginning of the Pandemic. The DOH says there are more than 6,000 people hospitalized with the Virus in Pennsylvania. Most being patients ages 65 or older.

Of those newly reported cases, 559 came from our region. Blair County reported 120 new cases, Somerset County had 119, Cambria County had 114, Clearfield County had 50, Centre County had 49, Huntingdon and Jefferson Counties each reported 34, Bedford County had 32, Elk County had 6, and Cameron County had 1 new case.

The DOH also reported 55 more Coronavirus-related deaths, bringing the State’s death toll to 12,620. In our area on Monday, Cambria and Centre Counties each reported 2 new deaths while Blair, Clearfield, and Somerset Counties each reported 1. Officials say only 58% of the State’s total cases are considered to be recovered.
