Community Foundation for the Alleghenies Scholarships

High school students in Cambria, Somerset and Bedford counties could soon win thousands of dollars in scholarship money. That’s because the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies recently kicked off their annual scholarship season. They connect students across our region with almost 300 scholarships funded by organizations, businesses and families.

Last year, the Community Foundation awarded $665,000 in scholarships, and then they matched an additional 150,000. Mike Kane is the president of the organization, who says they are the connection between local scholarship money and local students.

“We feel like we’re the connecting thread that can tie all that together, and that’s good.”

“I must admit it’s a good feeling when we’re when we when we put everybody together and we see good things happen, it’s really nice,”

These scholarships will be open until February, and students can contact their school guidance counselor or go to see if Alleghenies dot org to view those applications.
