Cambria County Commissioners are speaking out about the importance of safe bridges in response to the collapse in Pittsburgh on January 28th.
There are 26 bridges in Cambria County and commissioners have been able to fix 10 of the worst over the past five years with funding from Act 89 which allows counties to add a $5 dollar
registration fee to all vehicles and gave them an additional $2 million dollars from Penndot.
“It’s amazing what $5 can do for all of our 10 bridges.”
“By not taking ownership and fixing, you see bridges closed.”
The only bridge that is closed in Cambria County is the Red Mill bridge in Blacklick Township. It is currently being torn down and will be sent out for bidding this year.
