The Coalport Borough council is encouraging residents to get involved with the borough’s neighborhood watch program.
This is in the wake of numerous burglaries at a home on Railroad Street over the past several weeks.
The people who purchased the home were reportedly hoping to retire there.
But after the break-ins they put the home back on the market.
The council president says “If you see something, say something.”
“This does involve you. Whether the crime happened to you or not, this involves you, this is your community. Just keep your eyes open, keep your ears open. Whether if you’re walking or sitting on your porch, something doesn’t look
right, report it. If something’s out of place, report it.”
Coalport has not had its own police force for well over 10 years.
The borough relies on state police to respond to incidents.
