Fire officials say no one was home Tuesday when flames broke out at a Clearfield apartment.
Crews were called to the corner of Park Ave. and S. 3rd Street around 11 a.m. for the two-story apartment fire.
Officials say firefighters saw heavy flames coming from the first-floor windows when they arrived on scene, but they were able to get the fire under control in about 10 minutes.
Firefighters from Clearfield, Lawrence Township, Hyde, and Curwensville were responded, along with Clearfield Police and EMS.
Park Ave. was closed between Route 879 and 4th Street but has since reopened.
Officials say the first floor is considered a total loss, but firefighters were able to prevent heavy damage to the second floor.
The state police fire marshal will be investigating the cause of the fire.
