Last week we told you that a local Sports Complex that had vowed to stop hosting events after they were fined for hosting thousands at a Wrestling Tournament changed course and would host a Basketball Tournament this weekend.
The C3 Sports Complex in College Township planned to open their doors again this weekend to host the Crossover Hoops Turkey Classic, but because of recent COVID-19 restrictions organizers decided to cancel. Following a large Wrestling Tournament back in September, College Township Officials said the owners of the C3 Sports Complex were fines for failing to follow all COVID-19 protocols. In October, the complex then announced they were canceling future events to cooperate with Governor Wolf’s newest mandates and to work closely with Officials.
Then, we learned last week that the Crossover Hoops Turkey Classic was scheduled to tip off there this weekend. However, now that had to be pushed to a different weekend. Officials say they are working hard to have a facility capable of hosting safe events. Don Hampton, Communications Director of C3 Sports saying: “We worked closely with the event organizer and local State Officials to make sure everything was done properly. The decision to cancel the Tournament was based off the Organizers because we were prepared to host this but given the latest Mandate and Guidelines that came down from Harrisburg, it was decided by the organizers not us to cancel the Tournament.” Hampton says the C3 Sports Complex should continue to be able to host future events because of how they are implementing COVID-19 protocol inside of their facilities.
