By opening day Governors Park in Bellefonte will have a new look
The Bellefonte Borough received a $850,000 dollar grant for the big time make over
The State Department of Economic and Community Development will help improve the John Montgomery Ward Baseball Field
Those improvements include a new press box, dugouts, infield turf, and a new drainage system
Donald Holderman the Bellefonte Assistant Borough Manager told us that the infield tends to hold water at Governors Park
The new system will help alleviate some of those current draining issues
The project is expected to be finished by the time baseball season rolls around in 2023
The field is primarily used by the Bellefonte Area School District but American Legion and Community Summer League teams also play there
Holderman believes the new upgrades will be an economic boost for local business as they hope to draw in summertime tournaments
