Bedford County Shooting

State police in Bedford County have released new details about a domestic-related shooting that occurred Tuesday evening in Hopewell Township.

Troopers say Ray Vincent, 32, faces numerous charges, including attempted homicide after he allegedly shot one of his relatives in the head during an argument.

Authorities say troopers were dispatched to a residence, located along Douglass Road, around 8 p.m. Tuesday after the victim called 911 himself to report that he had been shot in the head by Vincent.

Police say the victim was transported to UPMC Altoona with a gun shot wound to the top of his head.

According to the affidavit, several other relatives, who witnessed the dispute, told police that Vincent had started an argument with the victim in the garage area of the home.

Police say, according to witnesses, Vincent then brandished a handgun and pointed it at the victim’s head.

Authorities say the victim told investigators that he attempted to “evade the gun shot.”

Police say when they interviewed Vincent, he admitted to “punching the victim in the head” and “threatening to shoot him,” but denied having a gun in his possession.

Vincent has been arraigned to the Bedford County Correctional Facility, and his bail was denied, court dockets show.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 10.
