President Biden invoked the Defense Production Act to address the Nationwide baby formula shortage.
It allows the Government more control over industrial production during emergencies.
With this officials can now direct suppliers of formula ingredients to prioritize delivery to formula manufacturers.
In his video announcement, Biden said his administration is taking other actions as well, Including the creation of Operation Fly Formula.
It directs the Agriculture Department and the Department Of Health and Human Services to import formula using the Defense Department’s commercial planes.
