A Hastings man accused of pulling a gun on an officer during a traffic stop last summer will face up to 15 years behind bars, officials say.
Authorities say 24-year-old Austin Yannella was handed down his sentencing last week in Cambria County court which included seven-and-a-half to 15 years in state prison.
Yannella had been charged with attempted aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a prohibited firearm, according to Patton Borough Police.
Police said they saw Yannella run a red-light July 13 and pulled him over in the Patton Sheetz parking lot.
They say Yannella got out of his car, refused to obey commands and then pulled a gun out and aimed it at an officer who immediately tazed him.
A bystander helped officers take Yannella into custody, according to police, and his gun was secured.
Authorities say the gun was an unregistered Heritage .22 caliber firearm that was loaded and had one in the chamber.
