Arbutus Park COVID-19

Officials at Arbutus Park say they’re continuing to contend with an outbreak of COVID-19 among their residents and staff.

In an update posted to Facebook Friday, administrator Rick Wilson explained the care facility received positive test results for 26 more residents and 27 more staff members.

Wilson also reported three more coronavirus-related deaths, bringing the facility’s total to 16.

He says residents with the coronavirus were moved to a COVID Care Unit where they’ll be cared for by a team dedicated to that unit.

Infected employees have been sent home to quarantine, Wilson added.

According to Wilson, all residents are being tested weekly and all non-positive employees are being tested twice a week.

He says rapid tests are run on anyone showing COVID-19 symptoms.

“We want to give our sincerest appreciation to the wonderful family members who have been so understanding of what is being experienced at Arbutus Park,” Wilson wrote. “Their acceptance of the changes we’ve had to make to some of their loved one’s lives has been a blessing to us all. We are committed to continue our fight against this pandemic the best we are able and be completely forthcoming with information for our families.”

Overall, there were 275 new COVID-19 cases reported in Cambria County Friday, according to the Department of Health.

There were also 13 more deaths reported Friday bringing the county’s death toll to 89, according to state health officials.
