Family and Friends Of Chad Edmundson held their annual Thanksgiving Turkey drive and giveaway today in Duncansville, volunteers who are all veterans themselves and their families spent the morning packing up over 300 Thanksgiving meals for veterans to have this Thanksgiving.
The foundation in memory of the late army specialist and Williamsburg native Chad Edmondson started this food giveaway three years ago.
Organizers say they noticed a need for this type of event for our oldest veterans in Blair County.
“We start with 100 turkeys and now we’ve grown from there. We figured it there was just enough meat here for older veterans who were had a need or on fixed incomes, and we’ve grown from 100 turkeys to this year We’re doing over 350 birds. What an awesome idea. And all of the Thanksgiving food items were donated by veterans and community members throughout Blair County.”
