Altoona Fire

Officials with the Altoona Fire Fighters IAFF Local 299 say crews were dispatched to a late night house fire Saturday in the city of Altoona.

The fire broke out, around 10:30 p.m., at a home along the 1000 block of 16th Ave.

Firefighters say crews were able to limit the damage and no injuries were reported.

Crews also rescued a dog from the 2nd floor of the home and were able to reunite it with its owners.

Firefighters note that the occupants of the home were alerted of the fire by their smoke detectors, and stress that all home owners check to make sure that their smoke detectors are working properly.
